Integrated Curriculum Management System (ICMS)

ICMS offers the campus a single data source for all course, degree audit, and catalog functions. Data, developed in Curriculum, is passed to the database and is sourced to Degree Audit and Catalog. This single-sourcing of data allows for a more accurate and timely look at course and degree data.

ICMS is the umbrella software and Oracle database system that manages three interconnected products:

  • Curriculum. Course approval system
  • Catalog. A new system creating a fully-electronic, database-driven, live general catalog
  • Degree Audit. Replaces the old Degree Navigator system

Historical Information

In 1999, the current course approval system (CAF) was created/implemented by the Office of the University Registrar (OUR). It became apparent in 2005 that the CAF system needed functional upgrading to meet growing campus needs. These updates would be costly, and some not even possible, using campus resources. An alternative solution was to find a third-party vendor to fill the need.

Decision Academic (DA) approached OUR with a proposal to implement a more robust system. After showcasing what DA had created, the UC Davis Academic Senate (owners of the course approval regulation) and OUR, working with campus stakeholders, embarked on bringing the DA solution to UC Davis.
